The Colombo High Court has ordered the corruption trial against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda to officially commence on November 23.

The order was issued when the case was called before High Court Judge Ravindra Premaratne. Following the conclusion of the pre-trial conference, Judge Premaratne fixed November 23 as the date for the commencement of the trial proceedings.

These actions allegedly took place while Karannagoda was serving as Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy between September 1, 2006, and June 8, 2007.
