Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to host a specialized regional training workshop on financial modelling for renewable energy projects, scheduled to take place in Colombo from October 5 to 7, 2026.

Announcing the decision during the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa highlighted the initiative’s importance for upgrading technical expertise across public institutions involved in clean energy development.

The proposal was formally submitted by Energy Minister Anura Karunathilake. Under the framework, the SAARC Energy Centre will facilitate local hosting arrangements and airport logistics for visiting delegates, fostering regional collaboration and sustainable energy investment strategies across South Asia.
