Employment for Sri Lankans in Israel will transition to an exclusively government-to-government (G2G) framework under bilateral agreements starting January 1, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has announced.

The policy change marks the formal conclusion of the existing recruitment system operated through private licensed foreign employment agencies, which will officially terminate on December 31. The private agency channel had previously facilitated job placements across Israel’s construction, industrial, commercial, and service sectors.
Key Developments
- End of Private Recruitment: Operations by private licensed agencies for Israeli jobs in the construction, industrial, commercial, and service sectors will formally end on December 31.
- Bilateral G2G Framework: Commencing January 1, all employment opportunities in Israel will be handled strictly on a government-to-government basis.
- Pending 2027 Details: Official information regarding the updated recruitment framework, candidate selection criteria, and quota allocations for 2027 has not yet been released.
- Advisory for Job Seekers: Prospective workers are urged to remain vigilant against fraudulent practices by private recruiters.
The SLBFE noted that comprehensive details concerning the upcoming recruitment framework, quota limits, and selection criteria for 2027 are still pending release. In light of the transition, both the SLBFE and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism have cautioned job seekers against deception by private agencies, advising the public to rely solely on official government notices for future announcements.
