The sessions will kick off each day at 9:30 a.m. with parliamentary business, leading into a period designated for Questions for Oral Answers. Following this, on August 18, lawmakers will engage in a significant debate from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. regarding the Regulations published in Extraordinary Gazette No. 2496/38 under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act. This period of debate represents a critical moment for legislators, who will weigh the implications of these regulations on Sri Lanka’s economic landscape.
Key Legislative Issues on the Table
Among the pivotal discussions scheduled for August 18 is the National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka (Incorporation) Bill, a Private Member’s Bill. This bill will be referred to the Legislative Standing Committee after its second reading capped at 5:00 p.m., paving the way for further scrutiny and amendments before any decision is reached. The day will conclude with an Opposition Adjournment Motion from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
