Key Developments
- A technical fault in the CT simulator machine at Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama has disrupted vital patient therapies.
- Nearly 1,500 patients have been placed on an expanding waiting list as a direct consequence of the malfunction.
- Daily treatment capacity via the machine has dropped significantly, falling from around 300 patients to approximately 200.
- Breast cancer patients have experienced the most acute impact from the operational slowdown.
Prior to the breakdown, the CT simulator machine was utilized to treat approximately 300 patients on a daily basis. With that figure now reduced to around 200, the mounting backlog continues to challenge ongoing oncology care at the hospital.
