Sri Lanka has engaged in comprehensive discussions with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to establish development priorities and outline key projects slated for implementation across the 2026–2029 cycle. Convened at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, the high-level talks placed significant emphasis on optimizing the deployment of limited technical and financial resources.

The session was co-chaired by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake and ADB Country Director for Sri Lanka Shannon Cowlin. The dialogue served as an essential preparatory meeting ahead of the formal ADB programme review scheduled for October 5 and 6, which is centered on ensuring the effective rollout of the bank’s 2027 annual programme.

- Strengthened Governance: Focus was placed on enhancing government ownership of ADB-financed programmes and aligning domestic procedures with ADB operational processes.
- Resource Optimization: Delegates addressed methods to maximize the efficacy of concessional financing and technical assistance to advance the national development agenda.
