Vehicle owners across eight Sri Lankan provinces face a brief interruption in revenue licensing services as authorities prepare to perform a major system upgrade later this month.

Key Highlights
- Downtime Period: Temporary suspension from September 25 to 28, 2026.
- Exemption: Services in the Western Province will continue to operate normally.
- System Upgrade: The pause facilitates critical infrastructure updates to the Electronic Revenue Licensing (eRL 2.0) System.
- Resumption: Operations will fully resume in all affected areas on September 28.
According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, the temporary suspension is necessary to execute an essential infrastructure upgrade to the eRL 2.0 platform, aimed at enhancing system capacity, reliability, and service delivery.
While online and counter services will be offline across eight provinces during the maintenance window, the Ministry confirmed that revenue licence issuance in the Western Province will remain completely unaffected.
Motorists in the affected provinces whose revenue licences expire during or near the suspension period are strongly advised to plan ahead and complete their renewals prior to September 25 to prevent potential delays or penalties.
