Key Highlights

  • BCCI parts ways with head physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain after the Sri Lanka series.
  • Jain originally joined the national set-up in May 2022 after a successful stint in the IPL.
  • The decision follows broader shifts in the support staff under newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Kamlesh Jain assumed the role of head physiotherapist for the Indian men’s cricket team in May 2022, taking over from Nitin Patel, who transitioned to lead the sports science wing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Before joining the national squad, Jain spent over seven years as part of the medical staff for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League.

During his tenure with Team India, Jain managed player fitness, rehabilitation schedules, and workload management across high-stakes international tours and ICC tournaments. The conclusion of his contract aligns with a period of broader operational changes in the backroom team following Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as head coach. The BCCI is expected to announce his successor prior to India’s upcoming home assignment against Bangladesh.
